Offsite Manufacturing & Modular

OSM - Better quality. Shorter programmes. Lower risk.

Home > Offsite Manufacturing

By moving more engineering, assembly, integration and testing into a controlled manufacturing environment, we help clients reduce site activity, improve quality and bring greater certainty to programme, cost and performance.

Earlier design engagement

Working with project teams from the design stage allows us to optimise layouts, interfaces and system performance before manufacturing begins.

Reduced site complexity

Moving labour and testing off-site reduces congestion, interfaces and the volume of work required in live construction environments.

Greater programme certainty

Off-site activity can progress in parallel with enabling and construction works, reducing pressure on the critical path.

Factory-led commissioning

Modules can be mechanically completed, inspected, tested and prepared for commissioning before leaving the manufacturing facility.

Controlled manufacturing

Systems are assembled and integrated in a structured factory environment, improving consistency, coordination and oversight.

Designed for repeatability

Standardised engineering and modular architecture allow proven solutions to be deployed across multiple buildings, phases and locations.

%

Faster overall programme, 436 days reduced to 284 days on a 60 MW reference project.

%

Reduced plantroom footprint, achieved through modular design and multidisciplinary coordination.

%

Reduction in site hot works and high-risk activities, by moving fabrication and assembly into a controlled off-site environment.

%

Faster Green Tag activity, helping systems move more quickly through final commissioning, handover and readiness for operation.

A better way to deliver water infrastructure

Design-led

Our modular process begins with the engineering. We develop systems around the specific performance, spatial, operational and compliance requirements of each project.

Built around certainty

Controlled production, defined interfaces and structured testing provide clearer visibility over quality, progress and readiness.

Integrated delivery

Engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality and commissioning teams work together from the outset, reducing handovers and resolving issues earlier.

Ready to scale

Our approach supports repeatable delivery across programmes, campuses and international markets without compromising project-specific requirements.

How off-site manufacturing transforms water and cooling delivery

OSM allows more of the water and cooling system to be engineered, assembled, integrated and tested before it reaches site, bringing greater control to each stage of delivery.

For complex data centre and industrial projects, that means fewer interfaces in the field, reduced site activity and less pressure on the construction programme. It also gives project teams greater confidence that critical water and cooling infrastructure has been coordinated, checked and prepared in a controlled environment before installation and commissioning begins.

At Whitewater Group, our OSM approach brings engineering, manufacturing, quality and commissioning together around one delivery model. This gives clients a clearer path from design through to site installation, with water and cooling systems developed to perform reliably, integrate cleanly and support repeatable delivery across future phases and locations.

A controlled manufacturing environment gives our teams better access, repeatable processes and clearer quality hold points. BIM, QA/QC and testing are integrated throughout the build, helping ensure water and cooling systems match the approved design before they leave the factory.

No. We standardise where repeatability creates value while retaining flexibility around treatment technology, cooling architecture, equipment selection, capacity, site conditions and client requirements.

PACKAGE PLANT ROOMS

Package Plant Rooms Built Off Site

Whitewater Group designs and manufactures Package Plant Rooms (PPRs), bringing complex mechanical systems together in a controlled off-site manufacturing environment before delivery to site.

Our PPR capability includes:

- Chilled water package plant rooms
- Water heat recovery package plant rooms
- District heating package plant rooms
- Water treatment package plant rooms
- Thermal energy storage vessels

By combining engineering, fabrication, mechanical integration, controls and testing off site, PPRs can reduce site assembly, simplify interfaces and support greater quality and programme certainty.
