Hyperscale data centres require reliable process-water infrastructure capable of operating continuously within a complex, mission-critical environment. Treatment performance, supply resilience, monitoring and controls all needed to be considered as parts of one integrated campus system.
The programme incorporated multiple treatment and recovery stages, including nanofiltration, remineralisation, advanced filtration, UV disinfection and chemical conditioning.
The challenge was to coordinate these processes across two project packages while meeting water-quality and recovery requirements, integrating with the wider site infrastructure and working within defined plant-space constraints.
Whitewater Group developed the treatment, distribution and recovery architecture around the water-quality, operational and integration requirements of the campus.
Rather than treating individual plant elements as standalone equipment, the design coordinated treatment stages, pumping, storage, instrumentation, monitoring and controls as one complete process-water system.
Modular skid design allowed complex treatment processes and associated mechanical, electrical and control systems to be packaged efficiently. This supported precise system design, cross-discipline coordination and effective use of the available plant space.
The completed system combines turnkey treatment plant with an integrated process-water distribution and recovery network.
Dual pump sets support continuity of supply, while UV units within the distribution system help maintain safe and consistent water quality. Nanofiltration, remineralisation and advanced filtration provide the required treatment and recovery capability.
Full instrumentation and treated-water tank monitoring provide visibility of plant status and performance. Chlorine dioxide generation, pH correction and safety stations were also incorporated into the overall system design.
Complete mechanical, electrical and controls integration allows the water infrastructure to operate as part of the wider mission-critical campus environment.
The completed programme provides the Madrid campus with an integrated process water platform covering treatment, conditioning, disinfection, distribution, monitoring and recovery.
The use of redundant pumping, comprehensive instrumentation and integrated controls supports reliable operation and greater visibility of system performance, while the modular delivery approach helped manage complex treatment requirements within the available footprint.
By bringing engineering, equipment integration, controls, commissioning and documentation together within a single delivery scope, Whitewater Group provided a system designed not simply for installation, but for reliable operation in a mission-critical hyperscale environment.
